Food flavorings are additives used in food manufacturing, primarily to enhance the taste and aroma of food. Depending on their source and manufacturing process, food flavorings can be divided into several types.
Classified by form, food flavorings include liquid flavorings, powder flavorings, and paste flavorings. Classified by manufacturing process, they include two main categories: natural flavorings and synthetic flavorings. Natural flavorings are extracted from natural raw materials through physical methods, such as plant essential oils; synthetic flavorings are synthesized through chemical reactions. In addition, there are special flavorings developed for the needs of specific foods, such as meat flavorings and fruit flavorings. They enhance the flavor and taste in food and must comply with national food safety standards.
